About the Client

The client is the world’s largest producer of potash and a major supplier of nitrogen and phosphate products, reaching growers on six continents through its agricultural retail network. Running multiple brand websites across geographies and product segments had made content quality, brand consistency and publishing efficiency a growing operational challenge. The platform was developed by the client’s content partner, Successive Digital.

Challenges

The client had six brand websites, six audiences, two regional markets and one content team and there was no platform built for that complexity. Publishing processes were fragmented and silo’d, brand governance was difficult to enforce across six identities, US and Canada markets variations were handled manually, and seasonal traffic peaks stressed the setup. The campaign time to publish was slow and the distinct seed brands needed their identity within one system.

Solutions Implemented

Successive Digital provided end-to-end platform design, including AEM 6.5 architecture, component development and AWS infrastructure design. AEM stores page content natively in its JCR / Oak repository and leverages selected AWS services for asset storage, edge delivery, compute, security, and observability at scale.

01 DAM Asset Storage

DAM asset binaries are stored in Amazon S3 via AEM’s DataStore, offloading large files from the JCR/Oak repository and keeping it lean; assets are delivered by CloudFront through signed URLs.

02 Global Content Distribution

Amazon CloudFront caches rendered pages and assets at edge locations near growers and takes the brunt of the peak request load during planting season, keeping all six sites fast.

03 Elastic Computing

When launching products and seasonal campaigns, AWS Auto Scaling scales the AEM publish tier horizontally, then scales back down, offering reliability without expensive year-round over-provisioning.

04 Monitoring & Alerting

Amazon CloudWatch monitors publish-tier health, cache hit rates, errors and response times, with custom dashboards, automated threshold alerts and centralised logs for fast incident diagnosis.

05 Safety & Resilience

AWS IAM enforces least privilege, WAF and Shield block exploits and DDoS at the edge, Secrets Manager guards credentials, and multi-AZ storage allows for zero-downtime resilience.
